Three big brags for Grainger - 1st, he got his NDD (Novice Draft Dog) title today at Swissypalooza - making him a VGS (Versatile Greater Swiss). Following in his daddy's footsteps, he is a versatile working dog with great conformation - his full name with all his titles is now: CH Sawmill River's Grainger McKey CD RE WWD NDD VGS. I am so proud of my gorgeous, sweet, working boy. Thank you to Melissa for taking him for me - although I would have loved to have handled him myself, but I'm on puppy watch. I got really teary-eyed when she called to give me the news, and she said she cried, too. It's a huge accomplishment to be a VGS, as the dog has to be an AKC Champion, has to have their obedience title (Companion Dog, CD), and has to have two working titles (he has his WWD - working weight dog for weight pull, and now his NDD for drafting). Grainger has had three of the four legs needed for his NWPD title (Novice Working Pack Dog), but I really wanted to wait to finish the VGS with drafting, as Swissys are a DRAFTING breed. So, well done Grainger! I couldn't be more proud of you - and to do it all with that big smile on your face. I love it.
2nd brag - he pulled almost 1500 pounds last night to win the Most Weight Pulled (he tied with Dash, but completed his in less time) and Most Weight Pulled by Body Weight at Swissypalooza for the second year in a row. Way to go Grainger!
3rd brag - he pulled over 1550 pounds tonight to finish his WWDX title (Working Weight Dog Excellent) and won Most Weight Pulled and Most Weight Pulled by Body Weight again tonight.
Tomorrow is another draft trial, which he will do with his dad in brace. Good luck, kiddo.
